Final Assessment

Participation- In this semester I have always come ready and prepared for gym class. I have always brought PE strip and a change of clothing for afterwards. In every activity we have done I have always participated. On a couple of days I hurt my leg so missed out on one activity because of my injury. I have seen a big change in myself this year. In grade 8 and I was very quiet and just waited for activities to start and did not show any leadership skills. This year I have got more confident and I surrounded myself with people that motivated me a lot. Not once this year I skipped PE on purpose and I have looked forward to everyday of PE even when we had fitness. On some days I know I would not be in the mood to do PE but my friends motivated me in which my confidence grew as well. One of my favourite activities to do as a class is play dodge ball because I find it very exciting and I like it when  the entire class is having fun and participating. In this category I deserve 22%.

Social responsibility and contribution to the class- During this semester I have talked to most of my peers in my class. I have stepped forward and set up equipment for activities and help out my peers. I have shown more leader ship skills from my previous years in gym class. For example when the girls in our class played Tchoukball we made the teams as fair as possible and included everyone so they would not feel left out of the game. We asked for everyone’s suggestions and played as a team which makes the game a lot more exciting. We included everyone into the game and no one was just standing there doing nothing. In this category I feel like I deserve 20%.

Healthy Living- During this semester I have learned what my body needs in order to be healthy. I have changed my diet a lot and I have seen a little bit of improvement in myself. Before I used to eat whatever I want and not think about my body if what I’m eating is good or not to keep me healthy. Now every day I come home and eat more fruits and drink a lot more water. I barely drank water before but not I’m trying to drink about 2-4 glasses a day and building up slowly. In this category I deserve 18%

Digital Portfolio and Reflective skills-In this semester I have 15 blog posts (including this one) and I know I needed more. I put a lot of thought into my blog posts they are usually very detailed and I include picture. I believe in quality over quantity. My goal in the beginning of the year was to tone my legs and I see some improvement in my legs. I did many leg workouts and I have a link to one of them in my first blog in this semester. My main focus was on to tone my legs but during this semester I worked on my arms. For example I picked up weights and I wasn’t very comfortable because it was my first time but I improved. My future goals that I want to set is to build up my stamina because I get tired very quickly. In this category I deserve 15%.

Overall: 75%

Diet

I use to eat a lot of junk food. I ate whatever I wanted knowing that it's not good for my body. In PE i learned what I need to eat in order to be a healthy person so I started to change my diet. Usually when I came home from school I would eat whatever I want  because I would be really hungry but now I usually have fruits cut up and nutritious snacks that I would eat. I have seen a little improvement but I need to stick to my diet in order to see a big change to my body!

Volunteering

Yesterday Kiran Puneet and I volunteered for track and field at Bear Creek Park. We volunteered and helped out for the entire day and it has got really tiring. At first it was really exciting and fun because we got to judge in what place the runners came in. I looked for whoever came in second place. The entire day we were the judges for the racing/ running. At one point it had got a little stressful because the runners were running at the same speed and it was very difficult to tell who came in first place, second etc. We had to be alert at all times we couldn't just sit down and start talking cause then you miss out who came in what place which ruins the entire race! Volunteering for the same thing all day got very tiring but we made it threw all the way without messing up and it was a great experience:)

Beep test

Beep test-5.0
Flexibility- 3
Body bridge- 40 seconds
Vertical- 35
T-test- 13.1
Balance board-14

This time for the beep test I didn't give my best. I was aiming for a bigger number but I couldn't reach it! I was really mad at myself because I did even worse than last time. Also on the other activities such as the t- test by score was horrible compared to the score I got last time. While doing the beep test this time I started to get tired really fast and I was trying to push myself as hard as I could but I kept missing the beep and I wasn't feeling to well either! This is one of my lowest scores and I know I really need to improve because I know I can do better than a 5.0. This was the last time we were doing our fitness testing in school but I'm going to try my best to improve my score over summer and not stop exercising!
